Viewed 12k times. I'm using Mavericks v The 'Flagged' mailbox is empty. Searching for 'Flagged' messages returns no results. A smart mailbox for flagged emails shows as empty.

The 'Starred' folders on both accounts are gone. Sometimes they will appear after a re-lauch of apple mail, but they disappear a few seconds after that. I have: Tried rebuilding the inbox multiple times, with no effect. Based on another suggestion, I deleted "Envelope Index" files and waited for them to rebuild. I'm not sure if this is an iMac question or an OS question The problem started about a month or so ago. I am able to flag email that I want to keep handy, and my "flagged" email box in the favorites bar.

Although right after I upgraded to Sierra, flagged message began to show up in the sidebar mailbox, but now nothing shows. I used to be able to click on a small flag at the top of the inbox mail and it would show all my flagged email, but with the new configuration, it is no longer there. It really is a pain to have to scroll down all the mail in my inbox to find flagged messages.

I know I can do a search, but sometimes I don't remember what to search for! Posted on Sep 24, PM. This could be a Spotlight issue. This will force Spotlight to reindex the Mail folder. Page content loaded. Go to the User's Library folder. This folder is hidden by default.

To unhide: Select the Finder in the Dock. Delete any files in MailData with envelope in the name. Open Mail and it will reindex your files and create a new folder in Containers.

You can delete Containers if you are satisfied with the results.

However, I did discover that when I look at my inbox, there is a dropdown link at the top that allows me to sort by flags It would be nice to have the Flagged mailbox work properly, but now that I can see all my flagged email from the dropdown, I will be fine.

It seems that all the flags I'm using Apps Mail have some strange things going on, also I have found that Smartmail boxes don't always show the correct items.
